Nika Bocharova

Nika is a full body certified ART® provider, USAT level I coach and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. She obtained her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Florida Gulf Coast University. Nika has six years of experience working as a fitness professional and has worked with week-end warriors as well as professional athletes. Nika is passionate about injury free training and believes that it can be achieved by taking care of one’s body before it gets hurt. She is proficient in identifying biomechanical flaws that may lead to overuse injury and force athletes to stop training. She works diligently and relentlessly on establishing a perfect maintenance regiment so that patients' are able to continue participating in their favorite sports. Currently, Nika is training for her first full Ironman event.

Katie Edwards

Katie Edwards is a Junior in the Exercise Science Program at FGCU. She was born in Fort Myers but spent most of her life in Zimbabwe. She currently works as both a Group Fitness Instructor and a Personal Trainer and intends to pursue a graduate degree in Physical Therapy. After recovering from a sports related injury she realized her passion for rehabilitation, specifically sports rehab and sports performance. Working under Dr. Black will provide Katie the opportunity to gain hands on experience in her field of study and will enable her to expand upon her current knowledge within the field.

Leia Holland

Leia Holland is a recent graduate from FGCU's Exercise Science program. She is currently a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach with NSCA, and has been working in physical therapy clinics as a personal trainer for the past year. Leia is applying to Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs and would like to specialize in orthopedic sports medicine. Leia works alongside Dr. Black to help design exercise programs to help patients return to their favorite sports and activities injury-free. She also works with both youth and adults athletes who are looking to take their exercise training to the next level after returning from an injury. She loves to help educate her clients in how to reach their training goals, and prevent injury down the road. Leia enjoys running, weight lifting, kickboxing, and yoga to stay active, and will often jump into workouts with her clients.

Lisa Kiel

Lisa Kiel, B.S Physical Education, Medical Exercise Specialist -American Academy of Health, Fitness and Rehab Professionals, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, is a former athlete and fitness/figure competitor.  Lisa competed in soccer, swimming, diving and gymnastics through the collegiate level.  As a lifetime health and fitness enthusiast, she has worked as a children’s gymnastics coach and a personal trainer for individuals from ages 13-90. Lisa is engaged in the fast developing and exciting field of Medical Exercise Training.  She specializes in designing programs for individuals with medical conditions such as joint replacements, cardiovascular, neurologic and metabolic issues.  Her philosophy is that movement is medicine for the soul!

Emily Krummerer

Emily is a Florida native, attending undergrad at the University of South Florida, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Shifting her environment, she moved up to Pennsylvania where she attended Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and graduated with her Master’s in Biomedical Sciences. Emily has had a passion for healthcare since she was young and will be starting medical school in the fall, with her current field of interest being pediatric orthopedics. Emily currently works for Geisinger Commonwealth in the curriculum department and is an adjunct professor of Biology at King’s College. She works with Dr. Black on research exploring various recovery strategies in college athletes and plans to continue working alongside him and the rest of the team on additional projects focusing on healthcare and recovery in the future. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, partaking in group workout classes and training her Bernese Mountain Dog puppy.
